Lauren 4.24.08

IMG_3399

I just pulled in from Augusta. Rebecca is with Lauren at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). We took her today to talk with them about the feeding tube since she has had some difficulty since Sunday feeding (check previous post about the Mississippi). Well… they admitted her to MCG.

Before doing the feeding tube the doctor wanted to run a few tests just to make sure that it was not something as simple as thickening her formula etc… Lauren’s swallowing mechanism seemed to be working from the first study they did… even with her spiting up a great bit and the formula out her nose deal. Well.. the second study showed a lot more. Apparently she can barely swallow her own saliva now… the tumor has grown in her throat area and is restricting her from eating like normal and is causing the formula to go up and out her nose.

Lauren is now on a feeding tube at MCG so they can monitor her and get her hydration up. After which there is talk of us proceeding to Duke again for more testing. MCG told us that they think Duke will likely reevaluate the timetable for the surgery to remove it, especially if it has grown and is blocking her throat area. Only time will tell. Our Pediatrician has been in contact with Duke today so I’ll post more when we know more.
