Lauren Update IV.V

THE TUMOR IS BENIGN!!! THE TUMOR IS BENIGN!!! THE TUMOR IS BENIGN!!!

Praise God from who all blessings flow!!! Thank you all for your prayers!!! The doctors and staff told us today just before Lauren was discharged that the final results where back and the tumor is benign!!! They said the tumor is a Teratoma and will have to be removed with surgery as I said in a previous post (quoted below). We are not sure when this will take place, we are meeting with one of the surgeons this Friday and will know more then. As I said before the tumor starts behind her left optic nerve (left eye) and goes into her cavernous sinus (nasal passage area), and down the back of her throat. There are many nerves in this area that could be affected including the trigeminal nerve which controls functions such as swallowing as well as an artery. Vision could be affected as well but at this moment it does not seem so (a retina specialist has already seen Lauren), we will be meeting with a pediatric eye specialist next week (those of you who know my wife know that she is a COMT and works for eye doctors so this is her neck of the woods). Lauren is also not hearing out of her left ear at this moment, they have tested twice, but said it could be anything from a wax buildup to the tumor actually pressing on her inner ear, we won’t know until later.

The next steps in this process are going to involve a very delicate and difficult surgery including different surgeons who specialize in various fields; no matter the results from the biopsy. They are actually creating a 3D computer generated model to simulate the procedure and allow them to practice before they actually attempt to remove the tumor.

***If you live in the area we ask that you please do not “drop by” as Miss Lauren is still not allowed visitors at this time and we hate to turn people away, per doctors orders.***

We would ask that you continue to pray for Lauren and that God’s hand would continue to work in this situation as we have seen it do.

  11. A pastor friend once spoke about praying for children. He said, “When old people are sick, we pray, when middle aged people are sick, we pray…but when a little child is sick, we pray our hearts out.” Thank God for your good news and we’ll continue to pray our hearts out. I don’t even know your family…thanks to Aaron Ivey for mentioning it on his blog.
