Paul & Timothy

I was reading through 1 Timothy tonight and was reminded of a conversation I had more then once with my friend Bill. We would spend time walking around the campus of our school and listening to our friends and others who would argue… heated debates over who is right on this and what this writer said about that. It really killed us both because it seemed senseless at times, if not down right hateful because one person did not believe the way you did. Friendships would be severed and it just tore us apart to watch.

Don’t let people waste time in endless speculation over myths and spiritual pedigrees. For these things only cause arguments; they don’t help people live a life of faith in God. ::1 Timothy 1:4 (NLT)

Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. ::1 Timothy 4:7 (NLT)

I think Paul was trying to stress something, he was trying to tell Timothy that time is better spent on people, on their spiritual needs. Love God, love the guy next door.

He also said that we are in much more need of spiritual fitness then physical… I should try that one on my doctor.
