Relevant Youth Ministry

Relevant :: Having a bearing on or connection with the matter at hand.

How are we doing this or not doing this in youth ministry? How are we as youth pastors, volunteers, teachers, and youth for that matter being relevant, being “today” within the walls of youth ministry? Are there really boundaries, borders that limit what we can do? Or do our own imagination or our churches limit us? What does it mean when the guy across town says to you, “Man, the youth ministry at your church is relevant.”

Is it the cool music? The cool name? The fact the youth guy wears torn jeans and a vintage Pink Floyd t-shirt? Its gotta be the gotee. The coffee? What is it?

How are we being relevant to the youth of today? Is what we are doing authentic?

  1. Might I just say that I think it’s totally the coffee.
