I’m self-centered.

  1. I would say we all tend to be in one way or another. Why though do you say that?

  2. It’s just something I feel I need to get out there. It’s my declaration to the world that I tend to focus more on myself then others and Christ. I have really felt convicted about my selfishness and how God is trying to lead me to be more like Christ by denying myself for others. My wife for one, friends, and those I don’t know as well. It’s more than just opening a door for a stranger. It’s engaging them (all of the above) for no glory of my own but that of God.

  3. Me too. Being at church camp with the youth reminded me of that…

  4. I think God is trying to remind me daily to deny myself. So many times I loose that focus. It’s human nature to follow self-preservation as well as self-gratification. I need to be beyond that; we all need to be beyond that. Our worship arts pastor (music guy) was speaking this past Sunday and he shared about a youth trip where they prayed for safe travel, no flat tire or accident etc… and one of the youth spoke up and said well what if it’s God will that we get a flat or in an accident so that we have an opportunity to share God’s love with someone we would not otherwise meet? What a challenge!!! We are all just an eighth note in God’s grand symphony of creation. The youth was thinking of others and Christ before himself.

***There’s nothing wrong with praying for safety but the bigger prayer and one of denying self is that of God’s will.***
